This is one of my largest and most intricate pieces to date, taking roughly 80 hours to complete. This scene features a lightning strike illuminating the sea behind a lone tree, with detailed clouds, grass, water, and foreground creating a dramatic, highly textured landscape.
The journey of this painting was intense, after completing the painting in early 2025, I went to varnish the piece and as i applied the varnish, layers of paint began peeling off underneath the brush. I removed the peeled paint, and left it for several months as i was very upset i had spent so much time creating something that has now got no resemblance to how it was created.
After a break i returned to the painting to rework it, ultimately adding another 20 hours to bring it back to life. Every mark and detail reflects that patience and dedication.
This piece is about resilience, power, and the beauty of natures drama. A bold statement for any space and a true testament to the patience and love poured into it.
